This is a new experience having a Blog. We are taking a test drive to see how it works. The picture is from Portage Glacier outside of Anchorage, AK where we were in Summer 2008. We really enjoyed the beauty of Alaska and the drive up through British Columbia and the Yukon. The road was in much better condition than we had expected to experience after hearing many horror stories. They were probably old tales of the past.
A really nice part of traveling is that you meet the same travelers in the campgrounds since there is basically one road. We made a lot of new friends and had many potluck dinners in the evening, or just sat around a campfire and shared tales of our travels.
This was a lucky picture taken on a tour of Kenai Fjords National Park outside of Seward.

This picture was taken by Judy during a pouring rain, going 50 mph around Turnagain Arm south of Anchorage on our way to the Kenai Peninsula
Here is our route for 2009's vacation
This summers trip will be a reunion with two of our three children and our grandchildren at Disney World in Orlando, FL. Unfortunately our daughter in Mississippi will not be able to make it. We'll spend some time with her on our way to Florida. We'll also get to see Arkansas, hear cajun music in Louisiansa, tour the Carolinas, visit Williamsburg, VA and Colorado.
We hope you'll follow us on our travels - our tentative departure date is set for May 11th.
Thought you would like to know that I visited your blog through the "next blog" button. Alaska looks beautiful -- that is a trip I would love to do someday.

ReplyDeleteHi Mike and Judy! We'll be following along with you as you travel this summer. Too bad we won't be close enough to hook up somewhere. We're in NC now headed to spend the summer in MN.

ReplyDeleteHi guys...Your trip so far is awesome. In July we head up to Vancouver and then 14 days of cruising in Alaska via Princess. Take care, drive carefully and most importantly enjoy as it seems you always do.
